Motion Picture Director, Producer, Screenwriter. Perhaps one of the most successful cult, horror filmmakers of American cinema during the 1960s and 1970s, he was responsible for such pictures as "The Black Klansman" (1964), "The Girl in the Golden Boots" (1968), "The Astro-Zombies" (1968) and "The Corpse Grinders" (1971). Born Theodore Mikacevich, he discovered an interest in photography during his grade school years expanded his interests to acting, as he participated in a wide range of stage productions. After relocating to Oregon during the 1950s, he founded his own theater group. However, he would gravitate to filmmaking and produce and direct short documentaries. After moving to California, Mikels acquainted himself with virtually every aspect of filmmaking including stunt work, editing and cinematography. His first project was the B-movie "Strike Me Deadly" (1963), which he wrote, directed, produced and edited. Among his other works include "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things" (1972), "The Doll Squad" (1973), "Ten Violent Women" (1982) and "Angel of Vengeance" (1987).
