Cecil Lawrence Greene, husband of the late Mary Frances Owens Greene, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016. Born on July 30, 1920, in Williston, South Carolina, Cecil was the son of the late Cecil Lide and Marion Rountree Greene.

In 1941, he graduated from Clemson Agricultural College with a degree in electrical engineering. Cecil was a veteran of World War II and a captain in the United States Army. After working for McCall-Thomas Engineering in Orangeburg, SC, Cecil joined the Utility department of Shealy Electrical Wholesalers of Greenville, SC in 1960. There, he served for fifty-six years in many roles including Vice President and his current position as a utility consultant.

For the past fifty-five years, Cecil was a resident of the Botany Woods Community and served on the board of the Homeowners' Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville.

Cecil is survived by his son, Larry Greene and his wife Brenda of Greer; his daughter, Fran Coleman of Greenville; four grandchildren, Kelli Smith and Harvey Hall of Greenville, Matthew and Mary Beth Greene of Greer; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Padilla and Hailey Smith of Taylors and great-great granddaughter, Ivy Stowe. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Ponder, of Atlanta.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Mackey Mortuary. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 6, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Clemson Forever campaign in memory of Cecil Lawrence Greene (www.Clemson.edu/giving/). Condolences may be expressed at www.MackeyMortuary.com.
