PFC James Merle Anderson, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Currie, North Carolina. Jim was killed by a drunk driver in a traffic accident which occured on 18 June 1969. He succumbed to his injuries on 10 Jul 1969.

He was the son of Mr Major Owen Anderson who died in 1978 and Mrs Lucille Croom Anderson who died in 1979, of Route #1, Box 177, Currie, North Carolina; brother to SSG Julian Raye Anderson who was killed in Action in Vietnam on 21 April 1969.

He proudly served with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 35th Infantry Division, "Cacti Forever", 4th Infantry Division, USARV.

He was awarded The Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Airborne Wings, The Combat Infantryman's Badge, Air Assault Wings, The Korean Service Medal, The Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, The National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal and the Vietnamese Order of Merit, Joint Meritorious Unit, Army Valorous Unit Citation.
