Ella Crystelle was born in Jewett and lived most of her life in Madisonville. She graduated from Jewett High School in 1933 and Baylor University in 1937, receiving a B.B.A. She taught typing and bookkeeping for several years in Madisonville before becoming business manager for the White Oak school system in 1940 and the Marshall school system from 1941 to 1944. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Crouch Jr.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Kay Starkey of Dallas and Beverly and Tim Nabors of Houston; two sisters-in-law, Margie Crouch of Madisonville and Estelle Fannin of San Antonio; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Darby of Huntsville; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
