Col. Harry Warner Lombard, 86, Gadsden, passed away, Oct. 13, 2016. Funeral service at Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter. Interment will follow in Forrest Cemetery. Harry was born on April 24, 1930. He attended Sewanee Military Academy from 1942 to 1947. Upon graduation, he entered U.S. Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1951. He was commissioned 2nd Lt. in the Corps of Engineers. Harry served in Korea and Vietnam and retired from the US Army after 26 years of service, then joined a New York engineering firm. In 1978 Harry was assigned as Project Manager on the construction of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. He retired in 1997 and moved to Gadsden in 2002. Harry found joy and fulfillment in serving in the Kiwanis Club, as chairman of the Middle School Builders Club, on the Boards of Darden Rehabilitation Center, Episcopal Day School, Gadsden-Etowah Patriots Association; and in his church. He was a member of the Military Officer's Association, the Old Goats and the Supreme Court Coffee Club. Harry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marcie McCorkle Lombard; daughter, Kathleen (Richard) Hendricks; sons, H. Warner (Serita) Lombard, and Frank M. Lombard; niece, Donna Wadsworth; grandchildren.
