Edgar Luther Adams

1927 - 2016

Edgar Luther Adams, 89, passed away peacefully at home, with his wife by his side, on October 12, 2016.

Edgar was born on July 12, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to Aubrey and Genevieve (Sharpless) Adams, and he lived in Akron until 1998, when he moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida. He was employed by RJS Corporation and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a master lathe operator, where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

He was an active Mason for 66 years; a member of Loyalty Lodge in Akron, Ohio and Gulf Breeze Lodge; and a Past Patron of Pensacola #253 OES. He received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America, its highest honor, and he was a very active member of Firestone Park Presbyterian Church, Firestone Park United Methodist Church, and the Community Life United Methodist Church in Gulf Breeze. He also volunteered extensively with Habitat for Humanity, The Akron Soap Box Derby, and Shriners Hospital for Children .

Edgar was a model airplane builder, a professional photographer, and a craftsman. His workshop was full of every sort of power tool and hand tool, and it was always open to the children of the neighborhood. He could fix anything and was always eager to lend a hand to anyone that needed it, and always with a smile. He was an extremely happy, loving, and honorable man, who will be deeply missed by everyone that he touched in life.

He is predeceased by his mother and father; his first wife, Joan (Cox) Adams; brother, Stanley Adams; and sister, Gwendolyn Urban.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Pamela (Frankland) Adams; daughters, Cathy (Steven) Boyd, Susan (Joseph) Hintz, and Kelley (Steve) Crandall; sons, David (Annie) Frankland and Clinton Frankland; grandchildren, Adam, Michele, Faith, CJ, Eli, Angel, and Lucy; great-grandchildren, Xacri and Rayna; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18th at 6:00 PM at Community Life United Methodist Church, 4115 Soundside Dr., Gulf Breeze, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchil dren.org) or Great Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Akron, Ohio (www.gtcbsa.org). Trahan Family Funeral Home of Pensacola is in charge of arrangements.
