Company K "Catawba Braves" of Catawba County, 46th North Carolina Infantry, Cooke's Battalion, Heth's Division, 3rd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Residence: Catawba County NC; a 5'8", 21 year-old carpenter.
Enlisted on 3/13/1862 at Newton, Catawba County, he was mustered into Captain Adolphus T. Bost's Company "Catawba Braves" of Catawba County, 46th North Carolina Infantry (State Troops), as a Private on 4/16/1862. (This company subsequently became Company K, 46th North Carolina Infantry.)
Present on all Rolls from enlistment until Killed In Action in the Battle of The Wilderness, VA.
On 8/22/1864 his mother filed a Settlement Claim.

The 46th North Carolina Infantry Regiment, organized in March, 1862, at Camp Magnum, near Raleigh, North Carolina, contained men recruited in the counties of Robeson, Rowan, Burke, Warren, Richmond, Granville, Moore, Randolph, Sampson, and Catawba.
This regiment reported 54% disabled of the 540 engaged at The Wilderness.
