After completing high school early, William enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 to serve in WWII. He served aboard the USS San Diego, a destroyer attached to the USS Missouri battle group. William was married to Mary Ann Lyons on November 16, 1950, in Huntington, West Virginia. William studied electrical engineering and worked for IBM from 1952 until his retirement in 1987. Following his retirement, William and Mary Ann moved from Wappingers Falls, New York to Barefoot Bay, Florida in 1988.
An avid church-goer, William was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sebastian, Florida. He was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus with which he served in New York as a Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He will be remembered as a devoted family man and sports lover.
William is predeceased by his parents, five siblings, and his beloved wife of more than 56 years, Mary Ann.
William is survived by his son, William Thomas (Susan) Enrico of Sandy, Utah; daughter, Carolyn (Jimmy, deceased) Flynn of Palm Bay, Florida; five grandchildren, Michael Flynn of Melbourne, Florida, Christopher Flynn and Joseph Flynn of Palm Bay, Florida, Stephanie (Shane) Peterson of St. Louis, Missouri, and Timothy (Amelia) Enrico of Charlotte, North Carolina; and one great-granddaughter, Amanda Lee Enrico.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 5055 Micco Road, Sebastian, Florida on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 11:00 am
