Matthew James Coffman, 32, of Fairmont passed away Wednesday October 12, 2016 at his residence. He was born on February 14, 1984 in Parkersburg son of Larry B. Coffman and Claudia Susan Criss Coffman of Parkersburg.

He was a welder fabricator and most recently worked at Francis Enterprises in Morgantown and Fairmont. He was also a talented musician and was a drummer in Dogs Without Horses, The F.M., and The Skinnys. He previously was a member of The Ultimatums, Eight Track Trebuchet, and One Step Closer, a Christian rock band.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Tracy Serge Coffman of Fairmont. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Kelly and David Burris and their children Avery, Olivia, and Owen Burris of Washington, WV; his in-laws, Daniel and Cindy Serge of Fairmont; grandmother Carolean Schafer of Fairmont; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and those in music communities throughout West Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Claude and Velma Jean Criss and Jack and Mona Coffman as well as his cousin D.J. Criss.

Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont on Saturday from 2-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Minister Eddie Stewart Officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any charitable organization dedicated to helping animals.
