David Leon Lassiter, age 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 11, 2016 after a very recent cancer diagnosis. Dave is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debbie Lassiter; two daughters, Lauren (Zach) Hilbers and Ashley Lassiter; and grandson, Sawyer Hilbers. He is also survived by two aunts and cousins in KY and NC, as well as Debbie’s parents and extended family who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Opal Lassiter, dear grandparents and extended family.

Dave was born in Harlen, KY on September 12, 1954. He lived in Morristown, TN for most of his childhood before graduating from UT Knoxville. He moved to Nashville, TN in 1976 to begin his career, where he later met Debbie. The two were married in 1983 just after they had finished their MBA degrees together a month before their wedding. Dave worked nearly his entire career in the healthcare industry to include HCA, HealthTrust, Vendell Healthcare and spent the last 20 years as Senior Vice President at National HealthCare Corporation. The relationships Dave built and enjoyed with the NHC management team, staff and entire community of NHC Partners were very special to him.

Being able to stay in Nashville in the healthcare industry with the continuity to raise their family here meant a lot to Dave. His top priority was always providing well for his family. Providing a strong solid Catholic education for his daughters became both a focus and blessing for all the family. The Dominican Sisters will always hold a special place in the family’s hearts. The family was active in the Cathedral of the Incarnation Parish while living in Nashville. After moving to Brentwood they became active members at Holy Family Catholic Church. Dave was a great man of faith in his quiet way. The way he lived his life spoke volumes to his family. He loved traveling with his family, especially to the mountains and the beach. He loved Tennessee football, caring for flowers and working in the yard, and enjoying his beautiful porch. Dave and Debbie celebrated their 33rd Anniversary visiting Alaska in July, a trip Dave had always wanted to make and thoroughly enjoyed.

To celebrate and honor Dave’s life, Rev. Joe McMahon, Rev. John O’Neill and Deacon Mark Faulkner will preside over the Celebration of Life Mass at 1:00pm on Monday October 17, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9100 Crockett Road in Brentwood. Prior to Mass, visitation will be held at the church from 10:30am-12:30pm. Graveside service will immediately follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Nashville.

Active pallbearers: Zach Hilbers, Matt Harris, Lee Carter, Pat Watson, Paul Scherer, Chris West, Brent Watkins and Steve Bogacki.

Honorary pallbearers: Robert Adams, Steve Flatt, Mike Ussery, Yaz Hassan, Tommy Bryant and Tom Bain.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, St. Cecilia Academy or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank everyone for their heartfelt support and outpouring of love during this most difficult time. Dave has left our family with an everlasting bond and legacy of deep faith, generous love and inner strength that will be forever imprinted on our hearts and souls.
