Lonnie Hunt, 74, of Newton passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice.

He was born June 7, 1941 in Rutherford County to the late Matthew and Jonnie F. Hunt. Lonnie retired from Dana's Trucking Company after 38 years of service, he enjoyed spending his days touching lives and entertaining the patrons at Hardee's in Conover after his retirement. He attended God's Chosen Ministry in Shelby, NC and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew Hunt, Jr., and Bobby Hunt, one sister, Edna Sims.

A homegoing service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton. Pastor Matthew Sparks will officiate. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m.at New Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Bostic, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Beth Eden Lutheran Church.
