Carter Funeral Home respectfully announces the transition of Mr. Jimmie Baker on April 26, 2016.

Celebration of Life Services were held Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of Mt. Cannan Baptist Church, Roba, Alabama. Words of comfort were delivered by Rev. Arthur Jones, Pastor. Interment followed immediately afterwards in the Mt. Cannan Baptist Church Cemetery.

A Time to Be Born Mr. Jimmie Lee Baker was born to the late Mr. Sammie Lee Baker and the late Mrs. Ada Bell Baker Johnson on November 6, 1943, in Fort Davis, AL. Jimmie departed this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his home.

A Time for Salvation Jimmie committed his life to Christ and united with Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church.

A Time to Learn Jimmie received his education from the Macon County School system. He completed truck driving training and received his CDL.

A Time to Labor Jimmie was employed by the following companies: Triangle, GAF Plant and Amtrak, New Jersey, Kinnett’s Ice Cream Co. and Werner Trucking Company, Columbus, GA and GRO~South, Montgomery, AL where he worked until he retired.

A Time to Enjoy Jimmie enjoyed traveling. He was a quiet and soft spoken person who enjoyed hanging out and talking with his family, friends and co-workers.

A Time to Reunite Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife: Pastor Geraldine Baker; one son: Jimmie Baker, Jr.; one daughter: Andrea Reid; one granddaughter: Angel Reid; parents: Mr. Sammie Lee Baker and Mrs. Ada Bell Baker Johnson; and grandparents, Mr. Charlie Calhoun, Sr. and Mrs. Estella Calhoun; aunts, uncle, and several other relatives.

A Time To Die Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter: Sherrilyn Baker, New Brunswick, NJ; one son: Harold Baker, New Brunswick, NJ; one goddaughter: Jackie Swanson, Union Springs, AL; six grandchildren: Jaier Baker, New Brunswick, NJ, Tiara Reid, Tamiya Reid, Tachera Reid all of Somerset, NJ, Lakeria Benton and David Benton, Jr. both of Union Springs, AL; four sisters: Willie Bell Tuggles and Estella Baker both of New Brunswick, NJ, Helen Baker, Montgomery, AL and Minnie Pearl Crocheron, Cleveland, OH; three brothers: Henry (Mary) Baker, George (Debra) Baker and Frank Baker all of Rochester, NY; two aunts: Virginia Robinson and Mattie Calhoun both of Tuskegee, AL; one uncle: Albert Calhoun, Rochester, NY; mother-in-law: Ida Mae Sanders, Union Springs, AL; two sister-in-laws: Linda Demps, New Brunswick, NJ and Gwendolyn (Steven) Streeter, Union Springs, AL; one step-sister-in-law: Sara Giddens, Detroit, MI; four brother-in-laws: Don (Mattie) Williams, Martin (Carolyn) Sanders both of Union Springs, AL, Horace Sanders, Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Nathaniel (Shavonne) Williams, Tuskegee, AL; one son-in-law: Andre Reid of Somerset, NJ; three devoted cousins: Larry Calhoun, Delores Calhoun and Juliey Tatum; four special friends: Charles(Sugarboot) Blackmon, Leon Nared, Arthur Kelly and Smiley Fielder; four special co-workers: Jesse Herron, Lee McCall, Joe Watson and William Brown all employed by GRO~South, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
