It is with a heavy heart that I add a dear friend to this site. I have known and loved Vonda since I was a little girl.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Vonda Lawreatha Brown, 89, of Draper, Utah, went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2016.

Vonda was born on April 28, 1927 to James Lawrence and Mary Lawreatha Nielson in Sandy, Utah.

She married Ernest N. Brown, May 21, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Vonda loved her Lord and Savior Jesus and never tired of talking about Him to others. She was a devoted wife and so loved being the mother to the two children that blessed her life.

Vonda is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernie; daughter, Carolyn (Carrie) Newkirk; sisters, Leila Mauchley and Shanna Fennema. Vonda is survived by her son, Jim (Jeannie) Brown; grandchildren, Jared Brown, Dallon (Crystal) Brown, Nathanyl Brown, Cody Brown, Bryan (Crystal) Young and Clint (April) Young; 8 great-grandchildren, Porter, Cash, Hap, Ivie, Gavin, Dylan, Joshua and Emma. She is also survived by five sisters, Gwena Kitto, Fawn-Neil (Ron) Burrows, Madge (Frank) DeForest, Janice Dean and Charla (Marvin) Neabeck; many nieces, nephews that loved her deeply.

Vonda was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, canning, embroidering, crocheting, knitting and quilting. She looked forward to entering her canned goods, crocheted items and quilts into the Salt Lake County Fair and won many awards for her entries.

She will be deeply missed.
