Wife of C. Howard Porter. Daughter of Hon. Thaddeus Banks and Delia Jane Cromwell (Reynolds) Banks.

"Death of Mrs. C. H. Porter

Died at her residence, on Walnut street, Hollidaysburg, on Saturday, the 16th March, 1895, Mrs. Kathleen Banks Porter. Mrs. Porter had been ill for the past month, and although receiving the best care of physicians and attending friends, her naturally strong and robust health succumbed to the disease which had fastened upon her. She was the eldest daughter of the late Thaddeus Banks, long an eminent lawyer of this county, and widely and favorably known through this part of the state. She was born in Hollidaysburg, March 21, 1842, and was therefore at her death almost 53 years of age. She graduated at the Birmingham seminary in 1862 and on the 7th day of June, 1864, was married to Mr. Porter-then and since well known in the business circles of this county. She was the mother of four children-Delia, who was married to H. B. Trist, and is since deceased; Anne, wife of James Milliken, of the mechanical department of the Pennsylvania Railroad company at Altoona; Marie, who is home with her father, and Junie, who died in infancy.

She was well known in the social circles of this place and Altoona, and her friends will mourn her sudden taking off in this early period of her life. She came of generous and hospitable stock, her father having been long known as one of the kindest and most cordial of men, and her mother was associated in her day with many enterprises of benevolence and charity. These qualities were transmitted to Mrs. Porter, and while all knew of her many deeds of kindness and almsgiving, there is a large unknown number who, if they chose, could testify to her many charities and the helpful acts of her hand. Her hospitality in past years was conspicuous and sincere, and these graces of her character shone out through many years of her life. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, having been admitted to membership on the 5th of January 1856. She is survived by her mother, who comes from the old Maryland Cromwell stock, and who now resides in Baltimore with her daughter; her sisters, Mrs. Delia Sadler (sic) of the same city; Mrs. Juniata Ewing , of Tennessee, and Mrs. May Stacey, of New York city, and Cecil R. Banks, esq., of the Wilkesbarre (sic) bar.

The funeral will take place from her late residence on Walnut street to-day at 4:15 p. m."
