John Augustus Minor transitioned from this life on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 8 a.m. at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, Virginia. John was born on July 12, 1945, to the late Joseph and Ann Elizabeth Minor. John A., as he was affectionately called, was preceded in death by his parents, the late Joseph Minor and the late Ann Elizabeth Berry Minor; and aunt/Godmother, the late Sylvia Minor, all of Orange, Virginia. John A. is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Antonia M. Minor; three loving daughters, Raynell Brown (Patrick) of Ashburn, Virginia, Wendi "Peaches" Frye (Wayne) of Zion Crossroads, Virginia, and Brett Minor of Lynch Station, Virginia; five amazing grandchildren, Patrick Brown Jr., Jackson Brown, Wayne Frye II, Wayden Frye and Wynne Frye; a sister, Pauline Walker (Roger) of Orange, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Verona Stewart (Isaac) of Washington, D.C.; and Raynell Banks of Riverdale, Maryland; best friends, Stephen and Patricia Carroll of Forest, Virginia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.In addition to his family, John's greatest passion was cars, cars and more cars. Enjoying successful careers as a car salesman, General Manager and owner of multiple Ford Dealerships, John was able to live out his passion daily until his retirement. For the past several years, John used his car savvy to become a classic car collector owning some of the most desirable muscle cars of his era.A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016, at Community Funeral Home Chapel, 909 Fifth Street, Lynchburg, Virginia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will be at the Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia. Repast will be held at Elks Rest, 1014 Fifth Street, Lynchburg, Virginia following Internment.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Challenged Sports Exchange, 22174 Timberlake Road, Suite B-1, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502.
