Dorothy Johnson Conner, 96, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2016 in Sevierville, TN. She was born on February 23, 1920 in Racine, WI to first generation American-born parents, Leland Arthur Johnson & Mattie Olsen. She moved from Wisconsin to Florida with her family around 1930 “with a goat tied to the running board”, she had vivid memories like that she shared with us all of her life.
She attended nursing school at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL and graduated as an RN in 1941. She worked for a doctor and the State of Florida as a child abuse case worker and a reviewer of nursing homes.
She was an avid reader, history buff and animal lover. She was of the Seventh-day Adventist faith. She will always be remembered with admiration and love by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Conner and her sister Virginia Rogers (Richard). Left to cherish her memory are her twin daughters, Sheila Conner and Sylvia Burns (Arlan) of Gatlinburg; granddaughter, Liane Fox (Kevin) of Sevierville; nephews, Allen Rogers (Vanessa) of Tampa, FL and Norman Rogers (Bobbie) of Cumming, GA and a special niece, Linda Marsh of West Palm Beach, FL.
Special thanks to Sevierville Health and Rehabilitation Center and Caris Healthcare for their care and compassion. Arrangements handled by McCarty Funeral Directors and Cremation Services in Sevierville.
