She was married to Mark Petty on June 17, 1989, in Phillips, Wisconsin. Her working career was long and diverse, having been employed by Phillips Plastic, Abbeyland Foods, JELD-WEN Windows and Doors, Flambeau River Papers, and currently by Marquip Ward United.
In her free time she enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking, sports, especially basketball, and was a great sports fan, especially of the Green Bay Packers.
