HERKIMER, HERKIMER Co., NY - Mrs. Marjorie Gladys (Upson) Riesel, ( 88y ) d: June 06, 2015 - a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford with the love and support of her family. Born on May 26, 1927 in Frankfort, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Glenn and Mabel (Farrington) Upson. "Cookie" or "Moose" as she was lovingly referred to by her family over the years, was raised and educated locally. She was a graduate of Frankfort High School and in her later years attended Herkimer BOCES where she received her Nurse's Aide certification. She was last employed by the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion as a nurse's aide where she took pride in the care of patients. Marjorie always spoke with honesty and had a flair for storytelling. She spent many hours writing letters to the Herkimer Telegram regarding patriotism. Her favorite times were Memorial Day, Independence Day, attending parades and singing the Star Spangled Banner, as she cherished the American Flag and what it stood for. She is survived by a son; Timothy Riesel and his companion Debora of Herkimer, several grand children, great grand children, great great grand children, nieces, nephews and a daughter in law. Marjorie was predeceased by a son, Richard Riesel, three brothers, three sisters, and her feline friend, Priscilla. jar END:
