Husband of Catherine Agnes Robitaille who resided in willimantic, Connecticut.

Walter served as a Coxswain, U.S.S. LST-460, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Windham County, Connecticut prior to the war.

Edward was declared "Missing In Action" when LST-460, which was part of a convey to Mindoro, was hit and destroyed by a Japanese Kamikaze off Mindoro, Philippine Islands during the war.

Two other ships, U.S.S. Foote (DD-511) & U.S.S. LST-749 were also hit by Japanese kamikazes while on this convoy. The Foote survived the attack and LST-749 was destroyed.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Service # 6422154

The commander of LST-460, Lt. Herbert Eastman Robinson, Jr., was also lost during this attack.
