My father-in-law Ron was truly one of the most giving, caring and compassionate people in this world, and my children were so blessed to have had Grandpa Ron in their lives.

From Ron's obituary in the Greensburg Tribune 13 Oct 2016:

Ronald E. Atherton, 78, of Jeannette, passed away October 7, 2016, and heaven gained an angel. He was the owner of Atherton's Tree Service and went home to be with his heavenly Father. He was born August 29, 1938, a son of the late Ralph Atherton; his mother Janetta Atherton still survives. He is survived by his wife, five children, a sister, two sisters-in-law, three stepchildren, 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Donald and Richard. Ronald was active in the Church of God as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader and camp counselor, where he impacted many lives. He loved Jesus and was known to model his faith in joy to any who came into contact with him. He loved to sing about his Lord and his joy was contagious. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and enthusiastically enjoyed watching the games.
