Italian Author, Director and Actor. Nobel Prize Winner. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera (1950), he began his career working as a television scriptwriter at the RAI in Milan. He is regarded as the best author of satirical comedies of contemporary Italian literature, and his works have been performed worldwide. His vast literary production includes comedies and essays such as "Mistero Buffo" (1969), "Il ratto della Francesca" (1986), "Totò, manuale dell'attore comico" (1991), "La lezione. Storie di teatro in Italia" (2012), "Callas" (2015), "Darwin" (2016). In 1997, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Fo died at the age of ninety because of a respiratory disease.
