Mr. William L. Wilks, age 83, died Thursday, October 13, 2016 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Sloan with burial to follow in the Patrick Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Wilks was born November 21, 1932 in Patrick, SC a son of the late Paul Leslie and Mary Helen Wilks. He was a retired employee of Sonoco with 41 years of service, and was a member of SOTC (Sonoco Old Timer’s Club). Mr. Wilks was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was also a life-long member of Patrick Presbyterian Church where he served as former Elder and Treasurer. He enjoyed gardening and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family.
In addition to his parents, William was also preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Kristie Wilks; and 2 brothers, Jimmy Wilks and Charles J. Wilks.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Geraldine Wilks of the home; 3 children, Tommy (Sherrille) Wilks, and Mike Wilks both of Patrick, SC, and Kaye Johnson of Asheville, NC; 3 grandchildren, Jessica Wilks of Patrick, SC, Katelyn (Justin) Beebe of Wilkesboro, NC, and Zachary Johnson of Asheville, NC; 2 great grandchildren, Gracie and Parker.
