Joyce M. Barnard, 83, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born July 13, 1933, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Nick and Milirene (Luebbert) Raithel.
She was a graduate of St. Peter High School in Jefferson City.
On April 9, 1956, Joyce was united in marriage in Jefferson City, to Harry William Barnard, who preceded her in death on December 3, 1998.
Joyce worked at Nick’s Homestead for more than forty years. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church. Joyce enjoyed shopping, spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending barbecues, and having Sunday dinners with her family.
Joyce is survived by five children: Mike Barnard, Cindy Burmeister (husband Tim), Kim Barnard, Chris Barnard (wife Pam), and Rick Barnard (fiancé Susan Moore) all of Jefferson City; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Husky Raithel and Norvin “Nick” Raithel; and one sister: Doris Raithel.
Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Fr. Ed Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
