George was the 2nd of 6 children of Matthias Irion and Maria Magdalena Pfister.
He married 1st to Anna Barbara Fosselmann, daughter of Hans Erhard Fosselmann who farmed next door to the Yerians in what is now Linn Township of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
He married 2nd to Margaret Williams, daughter of Thomas and Naomi Williams.
About 1773 George moved his family to Mt. Pleasant in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he lived out the rest of his life.
