Anna Alborn Anna Alborn, 96, longtime resident of the Laurens community, died Friday at her residence on the Darlow Alborn farm northwest of Laurens. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church with burial in the Laurens Cemetery with Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Dennis Larson sang two solos, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Helen Ducommun as accompanist. Pallbearers were Dwight Alborn, Melvin Runneberg, Jim Runneberg, Bruce Gambach, Ron Gambach and Bob Alborn. Anna Catherine Alborn Anna Catherine Schmidt was born June 7, 1887 at Ashton, Illinois, the daughter of George and Catherine Krug Schmidt. She came to Iowa at, the age of 13 with her family. In 1902, she was united in marriage to Otto Julius Alborn. They were the parents of five children, Kathryn, Mildred (who died in infancy), Albert, another daughter and Darlow. The Alborn’s lived on" a farm northeast of Laurens for 40 years. After retiring from the farm in 1942, they lived in Laurens with the exception of two years which they resided in Fort Dodge. Mr. Alborn died in 1956. For the past few years, Mrs. Alborn has maintained a residence at the farm of her son, Darlow Alborn, and with her daughter in Fairfield. Mrs. Alborn was a member of Royal Neighbors of America, Pythian Sisters, Yeomans, Past Chiefs Club and First Christian Church. Surviviors include her two daughters; two sons; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
