Rebecca Jackson was born Dec. 28, 1844 in Ridlington, Rutland, England.
She was the daughter of Hannah Kately Jackson and Henry Jackson.
She married Bradshaw Mayes Sep. 12, 1861 in Morgan County, Illinois. They were the parents of twelve children: Louisa Mayes (1863-1943), Elizabeth Mayes (1865-1867), Hannah Rebecca Mayes (1867-1935), Lucy Mayes (1869-1872), Henry Bradshaw Mayes (1871-1919), Mariah Mayes (1873-1960), Emma Mayes (1876-1876), Joseph Mayes (1877-1936), William Mayes (1880-1972), Albert T Mayes (1882-1956), Carrie Ellen Mayes (1884-1933), and Mary Grace Mayes (1886-1978).
Rebecca had the following siblings, all who predeceased her: Frederick Barfield, Emily Barfield, Thomas Henry Jackson (who was killed in the Civil War battle of CHICKAMAUGA, GA SEP 20, 1863), Mary Elizabeth Jackson, and Ann Jackson.
