Roy C. Lambert Jr., 93, of Columbus, entered into the arms of Jesus at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation.

Born April 12, 1923, in Columbus, he was the son of Roy C. Sr. and Ruby Gates Lambert. He married Ella R. Tungett on November 21, 1942.

Roy graduated from Columbus High School and was a United States Army veteran. He was a retired mail carrier but his greatest joy was being a minister for 40-plus years, spreading the word of God. Roy was a lifelong member of East Columbus Christian Church and pastored at other churches throughout his life. He enjoyed playing guitar, golfing and spending time with his family.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery in Flat Rock, Indiana, with military honors performed by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Survivors include his children, Beverly (Luke) Lucas of Edmonton, Kentucky, Sharon Tennell of Shelbyville, Jerry (Carla) Lambert of Columbus, Steven Lambert of Columbus and Chuck (Debby) Lambert of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister Doris Armstrong of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ella, on January 20, 2016; an infant son, Douglas Lambert; and brothers George and Dean Lambert.
