Dr. Keith Howard Stone, a native of Shasta County and a 1963 graduate of Anderson High School who went on to serve as Pastor of five churches including Shasta Community Church, as well as Professor of Practical Theology and Vice President for Student Life at Shasta Bible College & Graduate School, was called home to meet his Savior, whom he served so well, early Sunday, September 11, 2016, following a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He grew up attending First Baptist Church, Cottonwood and was a popular Christian youth leader in Shasta County, according to SBC&GS President, David Nicholas.

Pastor Stone was an alumnus of Los Angeles Baptist College & Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Dallas Theological Seminary (S.T.M.). He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree for his many years of effective and faithful ministry from Shasta Bible College and Graduate School where he most recently served before moving to be near his son, Paul, and his family in Deptford, N.J. He loved spending time with students, friends, and family.

Prior to being called to serve at SBC&GS, Keith was student pastor during his college years at Upland Bible Church in Southern CA. Following the completion of his seminary degrees, he served as Minister of Christian Education at Calvary Bible Church, Burbank, CA and then was called as Senior Pastor at Sierra Baptist Church in Newcastle, CA. Later, he took a sabbatical break from his responsibilities at SBC& GS, to accept the call to pastor Billings Bible Church in Montana. He and his family also helped establish churches in several rural areas of Northern CA. He also led short-term mission trips for college students to Haiti, Cuba and the Hoopa Indian Reservation.

As a long-time resident of Shasta County Keith Stone carefully honed the outdoor skills he learned from his father, including cattle wrangling, horseback riding, hunting and fishing. He did them all well and had the joy of teaching his sons and daughters how to execute several of these with equal skill. He taught his family the joys and benefits of reading, traveling and serving his Lord Jesus Christ.

Keith is survived by his wife, Gracie (Connett) Stone, his children Alison (Jason) Fried of Great Falls, MT; Paul (Kym) Stone of Deptford, NJ; Tim (Rachel) Stone of Stony Brook, NY; Amber (Tad) Williams of Wheaton, IL; 14 grandchildren; and his sisters; Berta (John) Anderson & Earlene Kline. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law; Dan Kline.

A closed graveside service was held at Lake Park Cemetery prior to a Memorial Service on September 16, 2016, at Fellowship Bible Church in Sewell, NJ.
