Clifton Patrick Cook Sr., 71, of Rockwell, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Carolinas Heath Care System Anson in Wadesboro. Mr. Cook was born Nov. 10, 1944 in Baltimore, Md. He was the son of Morton Dudley Cook and Mary Elizabeth Briceworth Cook. Clifton was a graduate of Howard County High School in Maryland and also attended Rowan Technical College. He was the owner/operator of Cook Trucking Company, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed football especially watching the Carolina Panthers and enjoyed motorcycles. Mr. Cook was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Michael Cook and Vincent Cook; grandson, Mickey Cook; and brother, "Cookie" Morton John Cook. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Wilma Jean Shifflett Cook, whom he married June 5, 1964; children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; brother and sisters. Visitation: The family will be at Powles Staton Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016. Service: Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 at the Brookhill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum by the Rowan County Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.
