John Jefferson Browder is the son of William and Elizabeth Lackey Browder. John married Elizabeth Jane Lotspeich on December, 19, 1844 in Roane County Tennessee. John and Elizabeth had eleven known children: Elizabeth Ann "Bettie" Browder, Mary Francis Browder, Amanda Jane Browder, William L. Browder, Sarah Adalade Browder, John W. Browder, Charles David Browder, Nancy E. Browder, Julia E. Browder, Alice G. Browder and Samuel L. Browder.

SWEETWATER, Tennessee, July 15. - John Jefferson Browder, a member of one of the oldest and best known families of this section and for many years one of the most prominent of its citizens, died bout midnight last night at his residence near town, after a lingering illness, aged 84 years. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning, conducted by Rev. I. P. Martin, of the M. E. church (South) of which Mr. Browder was a consistent member and staunch supporter, after which the interment will be in the cemetery at Browder Memorial church. Mr. Browder leaves a widow and several grown children and a number of grandchildren. He was the father of Mrs. William Cleveland, Mrs. S. J. Dickey and Mrs. J. A. Hardin, of this city.
