Judith Kay Matthews, 75, of Grand Junction, went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2016.

She was born in North Platte, Nebraska, the only daughter of Raleigh and Lucille Neale. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1956. She was in the first graduating class of Thomas Jefferson High in Edgewater and went on to earn her associates degree in Accounting from University of Denver.

Judy met the love of her life, Tom Matthews, at Winter Park on a ski trip. They married on August 12, 1961 in the Edgewater Methodist Church and made their home in Grand Junction, Colorado.

She worked in accounting for Strevell Patterson, Central Distributing, Bannister Furniture, the Law Offices of Elder & Phillips, and the Law Offices of Warren Reams.
Judy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught many years of Sunday School.

Children were important to her; Judy volunteered for the parent groups, including PTA, band trips, fundraisers and a girl scout leader. She served on the board for the Grand Mesa Resort and as secretary/treasurer for Alexander Twin Domestic Pipeline. She served on District 51 School budget committee. She was also active with the Republican Women.

Judy also loved gardening and socializing, enjoyed going to music events and plays with family, playing cards with friends, and had a wonderful smile and a welcoming demeanor that could light up a room.
