Darrell James "Dick" Turner, age 97 of Burnet left this world on Sept. 7, 2013. He was born March 16, 1916, at Cow Creek in Travis Co., TX to J.L. and Ada(Collier)Turner. He was married to Edna (Whitt)Turner for 64 years before her passing in 2001. They had an infant son Dale Turner who died in 1940. Dick lived mostly in Burnet Co. in Bertram and Burnet and was in the cedar and trucking business and ranching all his life. As a young boy he drove cattle to market down Congress Ave. in Austin with his Dad. He was a member of the Vanderveer St. Church of Christ in Burnet.
Dick lived a very long and full life and will be dearly missed. Dick is survived by his son Butch Turner and his wife Linda of Burnet, daughters Shiron Everett and husband Bill and Lana Odell and her husband Virgil of Horseshoe Bay; 3 grandsons Dewain Everett and wife Lana of Bertram, Ken Everett and wife Michelle and Darren Everett both of Burnet, granddaughter Sheri Everett Waggoner of Burnet, 3 great grandchildren Amber and Phillip Clark of Houston, Michael Everett and wife Crystal Everett of Burnet and Shanel Waggoner of Burnet. Dick is also survived by 3 great great grandchildren, brothers G.H.Turner, D.L.Turner, sisters Lucille McAnally and husband Earl and Aline Morris, both of Bertram and Minnie Jo Phelps of San Angelo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted at 1:00pm Wednesday at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Pallbearers named were Dewain Everett, Ken Everett, Darren Everett, Michael Everett, Philip Clark,and Art Johnson. Honorary pallbearers named were G.H.Turner,D.L.Turner,and Pepper Law. Arrangements made by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas. Condolences may be offered to www.clementswilcoxburnet.com
