Belding to Stephen Lionel and Elva L.V. (Harper) Stockton. He graduated from Belding
High School with the Class of 1953. James had a life long love of writing and had
written many commentaries and stories for the Daily News. Many enjoyed his
viewpoints on politics, religion, government and people. He was joined in marriage to
Marjorie L. Mathewson on August 15, 1959.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step father; Arthur Henry, a sister; Virginia
Dunn, special aunt; Goldie Lyon, brothers in law; Lyle Mathewson, Rex Mathewson,
Clayton Baker and his brother; Robert Gesselman.
James is survived by his wife Marjorie; children; Daniel (Kimberly) Stockton of Belding,
Karen M. (Linda) Stockton of Chandler, AZ., Kimberly L. Stockton of Melbourne, FL.;
sisters; Ann Baker-( George ) Ranger of Belding,Cindy ( Jack) Petter of Gowen, Lois (
Phil) Ramsey of Elwell, brothers; David ( Lois) Henry of Belding, Jake ( Linda) Stockton
of Vestaburg, William Geselman of Ashley, his brother in laws and sister in laws; Virgil
Mathewson of Belding, Cecil ( LaVerna) Mathewson of Belding, Virginia (Robert)
Smalley of Fenwick, Dorothy Mrozovich of Battle Creek, Margarete Mathewson of
Belding, two grandchildren; Karley Kay and Bradyn James Stockton and several
nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes burial has taken place at Rest Haven Memory Gardens,
Belding.
