BRIDGTON - George A. Drew, 87, of South Bridgton Road, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough.

He was born in Auburn, on November 22, 1928, the son of George and Vera Shackley Drew.

George grew up in Hollis and graduated from Hollis High School.

Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. After his service to his country, he worked in the Federal Systems Division for IBM for over 30 years.

He enjoyed his fishing, hunting and gardening; the company of his Sheltie, Buddy; and his workshop, where he made furniture and dollhouses.

He is survived by his wife of over 66 years of marriage, Doris Drew, of Bridgton; three sons, George Drew Jr. and his wife, Colleen, of Texas, Mark Drew and his wife Jennifer, of Maryland and James Drew and his wife Deborah, of New York; a daughter, Ruth-Ann Leinhos and her husband Philip; a sister, Dorothy Diane Red, of Steep Falls; seven grandchildren, David, Kevin, Mark Jr., Benjamin, Ian, Hayley and Brianna; and two great-grandchildren, Cash and Alden.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery, Route 35, in Hollis. DENNETT, CRAIG & PATE, 13 Portland Road, Buxton, are entrusted with the arrangements.
