Richard B. McKinley, 79, of Markleville, left his earthly body behind and walked through those golden gates into the arms of Jesus and joined the homecoming celebration with loved ones waiting for him on Oct. 8, 2016, at Community Hospital Anderson.
He was born on June 17, 1937, in Anderson to Ralph J. and Gladys (Camp) McKinley. He was a lifetime resident of the Anderson and Markleville area.
He has been a barber in Markleville since 1956. Absent only when serving proudly with 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He retired from Navistar International in 1997. He is a retired volunteer fireman for the Markleville Fire Department.
He was a member of East Lynn Christian Church in Anderson, 50-year member of both the Markleville Masonic Lodge 629 and Order of Eastern Star 363 now Pendleton, American Legion and UAW Local 98.
He enjoyed being with family and friends.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen (Perry) McKinley of Markleville; five daughters, Leesa (James) McIndoo of Markleville, Sandy (Friend James Short) Davidson of Markleville, Cindy (Dorin) Purkey of Pendleton, Nina (Dean) Gustin of Middletown, and Gina (Carlos) Vargas of Fishers; brother, Donald (Carol) McKinley of Noblesville; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; sister-in-law, Marge McKinley of Bonita Springs, Florida, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom (Barb) Perry of Sulphur Springs, and sister-in-law, Debora Hill of Middletown.
He was preceded in death by parents Ralph J. and Gladys (Camp) McKinley; daughter, Angela McKinley; grandson, Brian M. Ferrell; brother, James McKinley.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, 4 to 8 p.m. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with a Masonic service conducted at 7 p.m. by the Markleville Masonic Lodge 629.
Services will be Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Dan Bair and VJ Stover officiating.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by U.S. Army and American Legion in Middletown at the cemetery.
Burial will take place in Green Hills Memory Gardens, New Castle.
