Catherine I. Hardenstine, 102, of Pine Grove, passed away Sunday at Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Lebanon, Nov. 13, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Gottschall.
Grandma Catherine, as she was known, was the oldest member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove. She was a member of the choir for more than 50 years, on church council, taught Sunday school and the Youth Group. One of her favorite things was helping with the clown ministry at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Hardenstine, on Sept. 27, 1982; a son, Charles Wiley; two brothers, Ernest Gottschall and Stanley Gottschall.

Surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins and her loving church family.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, with pastor Ken Melber and SALM John Ziegler officiating. There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions in her memory be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963. H.L.
