…AND I SAW THE HOLY CITY BESIDE A TIDELESS SEA; THE LIGHT OF GOD WAS ON HER STREETS; HER GATES WERE OPENED WIDE… Billie Louise Zimmerman Perry, 93, left this life on October 8, 2016. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Texas on the 29th day of January in 1923. She was the third of nine children of Marvin Melmar Amazirah Zimmerman and Margaret Edith Pruitt Zimmerman. She grew up all over Texas as they were itinerant farmers during the Great Depression. She graduated from Lamesa High School with hours from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and both Midland and Odessa Colleges. Billie wore many hats but, for 45 years or so, was a Real Estate broker in the Midland-Odessa Petroplex. She won awards for selling Commercial-Residential. She was a member of the Texas Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors and was a lifetime member of the Midland Board of Realtors. Billie was also a member of the Toastmaster's International Club and a longtime member of the Midland County Republican Women and of First Baptist Church of Midland where she was a Christian educator. Billie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert Ross (Percy) Perry, Jr., two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Candace Ross Perry Samuelson and her husband David J. Samuelson of Abilene, Texas; her son, Kenneth Dwight Perry and his wife Judy Caroline Andersen Perry of Alpine, Texas; granddaughters, Kathryn Jean Powless White and her husband William Sherman (Buddy) of Lake Cochiti, New Mexico and Jane D'Ann Samuelson of Austin, Texas; grandsons, Robert (Rob) Ross Perry, III of Alpine, Texas, Jon Davis Samuelson and his wife Donna Cari Samuelson of San Angelo, Texas; great grandson William Clayton White of Midland, Texas; great granddaughter Canada Sue White of Santa Fe, New Mexico; two brothers, three sisters, and longtime friend Mike Stanfield. There will be a Visitation held at Ellis Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the First Baptist Church Chapel on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Johnson officiating. She will receive a Christian burial and be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Resthaven Memorial Park. R.I.P., Billie. Pallbearers will be Rob Perry, III, Will White, Jon Samuelson, Gregg Goode, Ronnie Goode, and Zandy Goode. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy White of Lake Conchiti, New Mexico and Mike Stanfield of Midland, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Midland at PO Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702, to First Baptist Church at 2104 W Louisiana Ave, Midland, TX 79701, or to your favorite charity.
