Donald Sterling, age 85, of Miles City passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.

Donald Theodore Sterling was born February 2, 1920 at Belfry, Montana to Josephus and Ida Sterling. He was the eighth child in a family of eight boys and two girls. Don attended Grade School in Belfry and Sonnette, Montana, and attended High School in Bridger, Montana.

On August 16, 1940 Don married Daisy Sunderland, of Sonnette, Montana, where they farmed and ranched. In March, 1945, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was sent to Tsingtao, China. Daisy and their first daughter Donna Jean stayed on the ranch along with Daisy's mother, Lena Sunderland, until he came home in September, 1946. They continued working the farm and had two more daughters, Linda and Vicki.

The family moved to Miles City in September, 1958. They purchased the Phillips 66 Bulk Station and service stations and made their home just outside of Miles City on South Haynes Avenue where one more child was born, Wendy. Don and Daisy continued to live there until October, 2000, at which time they moved to Forsyth, Montana.

Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, a member of the Powder River County Masons, a member of the Eagles and VFW, and spent many wonderful years traveling with the Good Sam Club, Miles Milers.

He was preceded in death by siblings Othel, Bob, Joanne (Smith), Clifford, Glen, Wayne and Doris (Peterson).

He is survived by his wife, Daisy of Miles City, daughter Donna Jean Dorris, husband Mike and son Michael of Mesa, Arizona, Linda Ehrle, husband Mark Taylor, her son Deon Carlson and her step-daughter Whitney Taylor of Billings, Vicki Peterson, her husband Rand, daughters Mandi and Jamie, of Boilings Springs, South Carolina, Wendy Branum, her husband Greg, daughter Devin of Miles City, brothers Joe and his wife Gene, of Kalispell and Jay, his wife Doris of Las Vegas, a special friend Howard (Bud) Ehrle, three special nieces Billie Knudson, Betty Stabio and Bonnie Lyda of Broadus, Montana.
