Roland H. “Robbie” Robinson, 92, of Purdy Creek Rd., passed away Thursday (October 6, 2016) at the Hornell Gardens.

Born in Hornell, June 16, 1924, the son of Roland H. and Leura Howell Robinson, he had resided in the Hornell area his whole life. Robbie served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He was a carpenter for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, and also worked for SUNY Alfred as a grounds man. In 1953 Robbie married the former Norma Amidon who predeceased him in 2008. Robbie enjoyed deer hunting, watching and reading westerns and taking care of his lawn. He was a former member of the Hartsville Community Church.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents and 3 brothers, Richard, Gale “Rick” and James Robinson.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda Robinson of Hartsville, a son Dennis (Deborah) Robinson of Canisteo, 3 grandchildren Craig (Meredith) Robinson, Sheila (Jeff Bulkley) Robinson and Colleen (Jerald) Briggs, 9 great-grandchildren, Finleigh Robinson, Blake Sears, Logan Sauerwine, Aleura Robinson, William Wheaton, Amanda Robinson, Brandon, Bradley and Alexander Briggs, 3 sisters-in-law, Jean Robinson of Washington, Belle Robinson of Florida and Etta Robinson of Almond, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
