He served in the Marine Corps, and retired from General Motors. In his retirement, he explored his love of eating and cooking by opening an ice cream shop at Higgins Lake, just because he liked ice cream so much. Dean was an avid hunter and in his later years, a patient fisherman who passed on that love to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew him as "Papa Dean". He enjoyed spending time with his family, at barbeques and anywhere else.
Dean would help anyone, and loved to share his stories and wisdom to all those who would converse with him.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Annabell Evans, his brother, Howard Evans, his sons, Darren Evans and Dean Evans, and his parents.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Penny (Fred) Potter; his grandchildren, Abigail (David "DJ") Detzler, Zachary (Amanda) Evans, Bree Potter, and Shayla Potter; his great-grandson, David "D3" Detzler; his brother, Alan Evans; and his sister, Judy Oles.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, Lansing. Interment followed in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Williamston, Michigan.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, East Lansing, MI.
