FARMER Rev. Bruce L. Fr. Bruce Farmer, 55 years, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday morning, January 2, 2007, in the St. Francis Home, Tiffin. Born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, December 7, 1951, he was the oldest son of Rev. Dr. Clifford and Wilma Farmer.

Surviving along with his parents are his sister, Shannon, (Randall) Wallick and brother, Chris, along with 6 nieces and nephews.

Fr. Bruce graduated from Heidelberg College, Tiffin in 1973 and worked in management with the Toledo Automobile Club for 4 years. He studied at St. Meinrad School of Theology, ordained for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo receiving his Deaconate March 29, 1980 and ordained June 27, 1981 in Rosary Cathedral, Toledo. He served Catholic parishes at St. Peter's, Mansfield, Sacred Heart, Fremont, St. Charles Borremeo, Toledo St. John's Delphos, OH, St. Mary's Sandusky, as Pastor of Immaculate Conception, Marygrove and St. Elizabeth of Hungary, Richfield Center. Most recently he served as Chaplain for the Sisters of Notre Dame Provincial Center, and assisted in the chaplaincy at St. Anne Mercy Hospital in Toledo Fr.

Bruce had the opportunity to live as a monk in Trappist and Benedictine monastic communities for three years and was a Benedictine Oblate since 1994. He served as Toledo Diocesan Archivist for four years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Fellowship of Reconciliation and Pax Christie.

The body will be received at Rosary Cathedral Friday at 4 p.m. where visitation will continue until 8 p.m. Family will again receive friends on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Bishop Robert Donnelly will follow at 11 am. Interment in the Priest's Circle at St. Joseph's Cemetery Tiffin, OH. Memorial may take the form of a contribution to the Toledo Priests' Retirement Fund, Covenant House or the Catholic Extension Society. Arrangements by the Coyle Funeral Home 419 865 1295.
