Norma Fern Carpenter, age 79, of Willard, Missouri, passed away at her home, on Sunday, October 9, 2016, while surrounded by family.

Fern was born on June 17, 1937, at home, in St. Clair County, the second of five children born to Opha and Ralph Redman. She grew up in the Polk County area, and worked at Stephen’s Photography as a colorist when she was a teenager.

In 1954 Fern married Floyd Carpenter. They lived in Morrisville, before moving to northern Greene County, in 1957. Together they had two children, Joe and Debbie. Fern was a real estate agent in the 1970’s, and also a homemaker. Later in life she spent many hours as a volunteer at Cox Hospital.

She loved cooking and recipes. Fern also spent time in her garden, and liked to can the vegetables she harvested. Another one of her favorite things was being in, and around water. She greatly enjoyed fishing, and was genuinely good at it, usually catching her limit.

However, her greatest love were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Fern always went to their events, and dedicated time to each one of them.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Carpenter, of the home; daughter, Debbie Williams, of Ash Grove; son, Joe Carpenter, and wife Janet, of Springfield; six grandchildren, Corey Carpenter, and wife Lindsay, Casey Carpenter, and wife Emily, Caitlyn Carpenter, Jake Williams, and wife Zarene, Marie Drenon, and husband Kyle, and Wyatt Williams; six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ella, Sam, Will, and Lauren Carpenter, and Izaak Williams; brothers, Don Redman and Judy, Jim Redman and Liz; and sisters, June Stephens and Ron, and Ann and Joe Sprague.

A visitation will be held at the Butler Funeral Home, in Bolivar, from 5:30 – 7:30, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at the Butler Funeral Home, in Bolivar. Burial will follow the funeral, and take place at Slagle Cemetery, south of Bolivar.
