LONDONDERRY Gordon D. Barton, 76 a resident of Londonderry passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 24, 2012 surrounded by his family at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

Gordon was born in Greenfield, Mass., on March 13, 1936, he was the son of Douglas and Marguerite (Canedy) Barton, he grew up in Leyden, Mass., and graduated from Greenfield High School where he played varsity football.

He had worked in many capacities throughout his life, however mainly as a carpenter and pool installation contractor operating his own business. Gordon was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and tending to his vegetable garden. In addition he enjoyed sports, playing horseshoes and polka dancing , his daughter Cheryl was often his partner, they have now been reunited to dance once again. Cheryl died less than a year ago on November 23, 2011. He had been a former member of the Manchester Eagles and Mt. Lebanon Lodge F&AM.

He leaves his wife Shirley (Arabia) Barton of Londonderry, daughter Bonnie Cobb and husband Danny of South Londonderry, son Keith Barton of Manchester, son Gary Barton and wife Margaret of Londonderry, daughter Diane Ireland and husband Dan of Lincoln, ME, son Gordon Barton and wife Leigh Ann of Tulsa,OK, son in law Ron Casey of Manchester , sister Irene Baker, brothers Elwin, Wendell and Craig, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his daughter, Cheryl Casey, he was pre-deceased by brothers Norman and Ronnie and a sister June.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services will be held on Sunday October 28 at 3pm at the Londonderry Town Hall (the temporary location of the First Baptist Church). Burial will take place in the spring, there are no calling hours.

Memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church in care of Brewster Funeral Service, P.O Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
