NILES - Vera E. Hardy, age 90, passed away at 1:40 am on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Westwood of Niles, Michigan. She was born on February 18, 1926 in South Bend, IN to the late Robert and Esta Mae (Floran) Lichtenbarger and has resided in Lakeville and Granger. On May 28, 1946 in South Bend, Indiana, Vera was united in marriage to John J. Hardy. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1989.

Vera is survived by her daughter, Diana (Jesse) Taylor of Niles, MI; four grandchildren, Amber (Ty) Margheim of North Dakota, Anthony (Beth) Taylor of Miami, Florida, Julie (Chuck) Piatakowski of Mishawaka and Jesse W. (Pamela) Taylor of Mishawaka; eight great grandchildren, Elora, Ian, Avienda, Sophia, Anthony Max, Adam, Casey and Carlee; one great-great grandchild, Layton; and her sister, Julie Lauver of Niles, MI.

Vera retired from Wirecraft Corporation after twenty-two years of service.

Private graveside services were held at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
