Julia Catherine Teller Johnston, of Elkton, KY was born August 13, 1950 in Louisville, KY to Birdie Lee Rankin Teller and Harold Raymond Teller. On October 6, 2016, she passed away at the home of her daughter in Conroe, TX surrounded by loved ones. Julia is survived by her mother residing in Hardinsburg, KY her brother Jefferson Harold Teller and wife Denorie of Newport News, VA, and sisters Nancy Mae Teller Denton and husband Jim, and Grace Lee Teller. Julia’s beloved children are Reverend Tara Hall and husband Reverend John of Wilmore, Katherine Colleen Rhodes Appodaca and husband Bryan of Conroe TX, and Aaron Daniel Johnston and wife Natali of Aiken SC. “Jama” treasured her nine grandchildren and five step grandchildren Julia Catherine Holliday, Amelia Grace Holliday, Donovan Rhodes-Hall, Daniel Rhodes-Hall, Charity Gabriella Bradley, Alexander Nathaniel Bradley, Miriam Hall, Isaiah Hall, John Wesley Hall and Joshua Hall and wife Melissa, Jedidiah Hall, Dillon Matthew Appodaca, Adam Tyler Dehart, Jesse William Appodaca. Preceding her in death were her father Harold Raymond Teller and brother Raymond Lewis Teller. Julia was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School sharing her love of Christ with youth. Julia Catherine Teller Johnston was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy and Magna Carta Dames. Julia retired from South Todd Elementary School where she dedicated 22 of her 37 years of teaching. Regardless of the name, Julia, Ms. Johnston, Ms. J, or Jama, this inspiring, excintric and vibrant woman will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation for Mrs. Johnston will be on Monday October 10, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, KY. Funeral services will be on Tuesday 4:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Yellow flowers are requested but donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund P. O. Box 637 Elkton, KY 42220 or Todd County TNR who traps, neuters and releases feral cats in the local area that Julia supported. TNR in care of Britttany May 7440 Guthrie Road Guthrie, KY 42234. TNR was founded by her very special friend Brittany May and husband Adam.
