His first passion came along when he was on leave from the U.S. Navy. She was fifteen years old and her name is Gail (Ringelman) Haynie, his wife of 26 years. There were united in marriage on July 23, 1977 in Wheaton, IL.
While Dave enjoyed many sports including fishing, deer hunting, golfing, stock car auto racing (cheered along by his #1 fan, his son, David F. Haynie Jr. who never missed a race) and was a team member of the paint ball team SWARM. He was a member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge #1016 and also participated in their golf league in which he placed first this year.
Dave was completing his sixth year as Vice President of the Lake Holiday Board of Directors. He was a member of the Lake Holiday Fishing Club. His daughter Jennifer enjoyed fishing with her dad, especially ice fishing at the Lake.
Dave was employed at Fermi Lab in Batavia for the past 11 years. Prior to that he owned and operated Dave's Service Center in Aurora, rebuilding auto transmissions.
Survivors include his wife, Gail of Lake Holiday, Sandwich; son, David F. Haynie Jr. and daughter, Jennifer G. Haynie both of Sandwich; his parents, Fletcher O. and Evelyn R. (Peek) Haynie of Eclectic, AL; brother, Darrell Haynie of Eclectic, AL; sister, Charlotte (Dru) Mattox of Alexander City, AL and their children, Brett and Aaron Mattox and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at Burkhart Funeral Home, Sandwich, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at Burkhart Funeral Home, Sandwich, IL, Rev. John William Davis will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in David's name to the Lake Holiday Fishing Club or the American Cancer Society.
