Elizabeth Adoree McDermott peacefully passed away on October 1, 2016.

She was 91 years old. She was born in Little Rock on June 10, 1925 to the late Fred J. and Marguerite Herring.

She was preceded in death by her husband John E. (Jack) McDermott who died in 2002. They were married in 1949 at Trinity Episcopal church in Little Rock.

Elizabeth, better known as Betty to all who knew her, is survived by a son, John William, and a daughter, Janis Gail, as well as two grandchildren, Marsden and Rose, the son and daughter of John McDermott and his wife Narisara Murray.

Betty McDermott lived in Little Rock most of her life. She was educated in public schools there and then attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri. She then went on to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. She was also a member of the Kepouri Garden Club and La Moderne Civic Club, as well as a member of St. Marks’ Episcopal church. She was retired from the Arkansas Department of Health.

Funeral on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth funeral home, 5800 W 12th Street in Little Rock.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
