Jerry Fletcher Stephenson was born on April 18, 1937 in Erwin, Harnett County, North Carolina and died on October 8, 2016 at Emerald Gardens Assisted Living in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. Jerry entered the US Navy in 1956. While in the Navy he was an aviation mechanic and maintenance technician and member of VP-18 Flying Phantoms and VP-30 Pro's Nest. He flew in the P2-V aircraft and helped carry out missions all over the northern, southern and western hemispheres in the 1960's. After serving with the US Navy for 20 years, Jerry retired and he and his wife settled in Pensacola, Florida where they raised their five children; Jerry then worked for NADEP until his retirement in the mid-nineties. He was an all around athlete playing fast pitch softball, football and basketball. He was also an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ella Mae McCauley Stephenson, his parents, Fletcher Calvin and Gladys Ruth Leggett Stephenson, two brothers, Jack Calvin Stephenson and Richard Paul Stephenson and one sister, Dorothy Pearl Stephenson. He is survived by his five children; Susan Stephenson Westney (Phil), Cynthia Stephenson Law (Larry), Kelly Stephenson Reid, Gerri Stephenson Christopher, Vincent Stephenson (Michael), three granddaughters, Erica Christopher, Holly Christopher Major (Cory), Brittany Reid Shockley (Kevin), One grandson, Brett Rosasco. One sister, Patsy Stephenson Grissett (Larry) and numerous nieces and nephews.
