Larry attended Doane College, Kearney State and UNL with a Bachelor of Science degree and majored in insurance and economics. While attending UNL, he worked at Gateway Manor as a bookkeeper, maintenance and groundskeeper.
He was a lifetime member of UNL Alumni Association, board member of Pine Lake Golf and Tennis, president of the board of the former Gateway Manor, United Way Loaned Executive Program, a member of Health Association of America, fellow of Life Management Institute, member of Nebraska Insurance Institute, and a member of Nebraska State Health Insurance Council.
Larry loved to golf and watch all Husker sporting events. In his spare time and just about any day you would see him at his beloved PLG Course, until he no longer could play because of his COPD battle. Larry fought a courageous battle with COPD for more than 10 years. Larry left behind his beloved dogs Oliver and Bosley.
Survivors include: wife, Lynne Rhodes; son, Mark Rhodes his wife, Tracy; daughter Katie and special addition Taylor Keegan; daughter, Kelly Rhodes and partner Amanda Franklin; sister, Wanda (Richard) Gibson; sister-in-law, Juanita Rhodes.
Preceded in death by: parents, Virgil and Leona; son, Scott Rhodes; brother, Willis Rhodes; sister, Genevieve Eppens; and brother-in-law Glen Eppens.
Graveside services on Monday, October 10, 2016, at Calvary Cemetery in Lincoln.
