John O. Force Age 86, of Horseheads, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. John was born on September 26, 1924, in Elmira, NY, son of the late Harry and Emma (Carlson) Force. John served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post, NY, after many years as a machinist. John was a member of the Horseheads Village Fire Department for over 50 years and was a past member of the Elmira Heights Fire Department. He was an avid bowler, being a member of the Thursday Night League and the Senior Citizens League. John was predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 2007; and daughter, Cathy in 2004. Survivors include his sons, Patrick Force of Horseheads, NY, and John Force of Erin, NY; sister, Edda Force of Elmira, NY; daughter-in-law, Joann Force of Elmira Heights, NY; granddaughter, Kristin Force; grandsons, Jeremy, Shaun (Kayla), Chad and Ryan Force. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, October 15, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads with full Military Honors.
